Hosting Option
WordPress
WordPress.com is a platform where you can create your own websites without the necesity of learning code. It is an open source, meaning everyone can contribute to the global community of the platform.
Reason
The reason why I chose WordPress.com to create my website is because I thought it was the best option. You don’t need any programming knowledge to create your website. This platform is also very easy to use: in just a few clicks, you can entirely change the colors, the patterns, and even create pages and posts like this one. It also adjusts to my budget, because althought you usually have to pay monthly or yearly, WordPress offers new users a free year of hosting and domain.
Challenges
While I was setting up this website, I faced many challenges. One of the firsts was about continuing the WordPress Credits course in WordPress.org or setting up this website in WordPress.com. Another challenge was related to the heading. I had many issues editing it until I finally personalized it. I did not have many issues with the footer thought. Finally, I had a problem with the post “First Week, First Knowledges“, where the header would simply just bug for no reason and cover almost half of the post when it was supposed to not. After doing a lot of senseless things with the template parts and patterns, I finally solved the problem.
Things I Learned
Through the creation of DiegoM’s Blog, I learned a few things about WordPress. One of them was that WordPress is not only made for professionals, but also beginners. WordPress does not require coding to create pages, posts or content in general. Learning how to navigate through the different pages of WordPress.com is enough to create a whole functional website with the freedom of editing it anytime.
